General Duties

Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Director, the Billing Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the billing process, including insurance vertification, claim submission, payment posting, and follow-up with patients and insurance companies. This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient billing records, including insurance information, payment histories, account balances, and other billing-related data to ensure timely reimbursement and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED eqivalent (mandatory)
• A minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

• Familiarity with FQHC operations, including sliding fee-scales, HRSA grant expectations, and specialized encounter codes.
• Strong command of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPS coding standards.
• Prior experience in insurance billing is preferred.
• Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills are required.

Technical Skills

• Windows-based computer experience required.
